Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield updated the media today that there have been no new cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand.
There are still three active cases in New Zealand which were reported after 24 days of zero cases.
Dr Bloomfield also said that there were 6,273 tests carried out in last 24 hours and increased testing is due to extensive testing of people in the wake of the latest cases. Total number of tests processed till now is 327,460. He also mentioned that New Zealand has capacity to do more than 12,000 tests in a day if required.
"In that context, it is very reassuring that we have no further cases of Covid-19 to report," he said.
Dr Bloomfield told that there had been 37 positive cases reported coming from the border since April.
New Zealand's last case reported yesterday was of a man in his 60s who arrived from Pakistan and is currently in quarantine.
The total number of confirmed and probable cases is now at 1507 with three active cases.
