Expectedly, this news will bring relief and rejoice to thousands of Indian citizens strand in NZ and desperately waiting to return home at the earliest.

Meanwhile, all preparations for the first flight back to India is underway as the first-ever Air India flight (commercial) will be soon departing from New Delhi airport and scheduled to reach tomorrow and will leave back home on Sunday, June 7.

As per the last update from the office of the Indian High Commission, the flight capacity of the first flight (June 7) has been now halved to almost 155 after a judgement by the Supreme Court of India requiring adequate social distancing within flights.

The news has expectedly brought some gloom for many expectant travellers who were keen to travel back at the earliest and not prolong their stay anymore.

Now with today's new announcement of a change in flight schedule and advancing by a number of days, there is expected to be some relief.

It means New Zealanders stranded in India can also return home earlier

This new development will be a piece of significant news for many Kiwis still stranded in India and relying on Air India flights to return home.

More to come.
