A new poll shows the New Zealand public overwhelmingly approves of the government's response to the Covid-19 pandemic, with a far higher rating than in that seen in G7 countries.
Colmar Brunton did the survey late last week, with similar polls carried out in countries such as the UK, the US, Germany and France.
It shows more than eight out of 10 New Zealanders think the government is handling the coronavirus crisis well, compared to just 54 per cent across the G7.
The public's trust in the government has surged by 24 percentage points in just the past few months - from 59 per cent to 83 per cent.
However, four out of 10 New Zealanders say the fallout from Covid-19 has already hurt their income, compared to 29 per cent in the G7 nations.
Meanwhile, the number of confirmed and probable Covid-19 cases has decreased again, with 26 confirmed and 24 probable cases in the past 24 hours.
