Pacific Cup Football tournament is once again coming to the shores of New Zealand and New Zealand Fiji Football Inc. will play the host of this event from Wednesday, November 27 to Sunday, December 1.
The tournament will be held at ‘Home of Fiji Soccer’- Bill Mckinlay Park in Mt Wellington, Auckland.
“Since inception Pacific Cup, the event has exponentially grown in status and fan following, and this is the only reason the event is hosted to give the Fijian Football Community a chance to witness four major districts from Fiji come and compete with local football teams in our backyard,”Secretary of NZFFI, Mohammed Asaf said.
The hype of this event is further boosted with the participation of the USA All-Stars, AUFFI All-Stars from Sydney and Victoria All-Stars from Melbourne.
NZFFI as the host makes up the other three teams in the name of NZFFI All-Stars, Auckland All-Stars and Northshore All-Stars to make the team composition to ten.
Nadi FC from Fiji has been the most dominant team from inception, winning the Pacific Cup title four times. Since last year the Pacific Cup board has included the Masters Football in the mix during Pacific Cup and this year, we have teams coming from Fiji, Wellington and Hamilton to participate in the Pacific 40’s Cup tournament which will be run together with the Pacific Cup tournament.
“NZFFI Board of Directors and the Board of Control have worked tirelessly to make sure this event is presented at the highest standard for the patrons to enjoy the best of Fijian Football,” Mr Asaf said.
“The organising committee would like to acknowledge the kind sponsors in the name of Valentines Buffet Restaurant, Northshore, Lal’s Transport, Northshore, Rams Group of Companies, Mahindra Motor’s Manukau and Kapsan Enterprises for the support towards this event.
“NZFFI, as the organisers are privileged and honoured to host this event in New Zealand and requests the general public to come and enjoy their hospitality and the football at the display.
“Presale tickets are at a bargain price of $50 for the five days of football, and interested people can contact the organisers for tickets,” Mr Asaf added.
