Electronic “Third eye” that sees and records all

In the wake of continuing attacks on taxi drivers across New Zealand, the government has recently recommended the installation of cameras as a security device for drivers. Few New Zealand taxis have such devices installed and the sooner drivers and fleet operators use them the more secure they and their families can feel as they go about their livelihoods.

Auckland IT firm Logical Systems has a state of the art solution on offer, says the company’s Managing Director Daven Naidu.

“The greatest risk while driving is the sheer unpredictability of events on the road. Potential hazards wait around every corner,” he says. “If you are a taxicab or public transportation operator, hazards may be inside your vehicle as well.

“With dual high resolution colour cameras, GPS, infrared, up to 3 minutes of pre-alarm recording, and SDHC flash storage (4GB included), the T-eye is as technologically sophisticated as it is practical.”

T-eye offers to both commercial and private vehicle operators an effective risk reducing means to aid in the investigation process, decrease collateral damages associated with car accidents, deter crime inside the vehicle, and overall enhance the safety on the road.

T-Eye, an in-vehicle EDR (Event Data Recorder), makes constant recordings of video footage using a 'first-in' 'first-out' method. In the event of an accident or triggered alarm recording, the T-Eye 'flags' these files so they do not delete when the SD card becomes full.

When the T-Eye is triggered, the recording begins up to 3 minutes before the trigger activation (which is adjustable). These videos may later be viewed for surveillance purposes or evidence in an investigation, providing concrete evidence for clarifying responsibility.

The T-Eye provides an easy user interface to extract the data from the unit and transfer to a computer. “Our unique software makes it effortless to view and save video files to your PC, with the push of a button you can convert videos to AVI format for easy playback in almost any media player,” Mr Naidu says.

The device offers a twin cameras view, wide-angle view and is compact and extremely affordable. “No incident is too small to be unnoticed, captured digitally, Automated driving recorder. The T-eye allows drivers to mark video and scenes of interest for future review – it's your automotive digital eyewitness,” he says.

The T eye is useful for law enforcement or personal use, Fleet Management, Accident reconstruction, Professional fleet and car racing driver training, and student driver training.

The two cameras plus audio channel provides a "third eye" observer. It also features on board digital video recorder with GPS, Speedo readings and external alarm trigger, an SD Card which allows for re-enactment and replay of video and audio, Continuously records video in a loop and saving time before and after an accident.

Logical Systems is New Zealand’s sole distributor for T-Eye and welcomes inquiries. Logical has been in the IT business for over two decades and is well known in the New Zealand and Fiji market as a reseller of Apple products for the past several years.
