Indian man dies in an accident in Paeroa, three injured

Police has reported that one man was killed and three injured in a two-car collision in Paeroa-Tahuna Road, Otway, Waikato.

Police and emergency services were called at the serious crash at around 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 29. Police also updated that one person sustained serious injuries and two others with moderate injuries.

Auckland Malayali Samajam Incorporated, an Indian community organisation, announced on Facebook that a member of the Malayali community from Waikato has passed away in an accident in Paeroa.

The man was identified as Kieran George Jose, a registered nurse with Waikato District Health Board.

The police is yet to release the name of the deceased officially.

The community organisation announced that a viewing will be held at Parish of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, on 66 Main Highway in Ellerslie on Saturday, August 31 at 2 p.m.

The funeral arrangements will be made in Kerala, the details of which will be announced later.

“The President and executive committee of Auckland Malayali Samajam express their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. Kindly join all our prayers for eternal peace to the departed soul,” Auckland Malayali Samajam posted on Facebook.

A St John spokeswoman told Stuff that one patient, initially in a serious condition, was downgraded to moderate but was flown to Waikato Hospital.

The others in moderate condition were taken to Thames Hospital.
