The Kiwi-Indian Hall of Fame Awards is all set to bring another edition of saluting excellence in the community in 2019.
The awards have carved a special niche for itself for not only bringing a night of glamour, elegance and grandeur but also setting extremely high standards when it comes to honouring the high-achievers in the community.
On previous occasions, the inductees to the Kiwi-Indian Hall of Fame included high achievers like the first India-born Member of Parliament, the only judge in New Zealand courts, the first-ever Kiwi-Indian women Mayor, among others.
"We are committed to keeping the bar high for those who can be inducted into the Kiwi-Indian Hall of Fame so as to genuinely inspire our community to pursue excellence in their endeavours consistently,” says Bhav Dhillon, owner and publisher of The Indian Weekender.
"We are also committed to meet the expectations about the award ceremony that we had set in the recent past," says Mr Dhillon, promising another edition of the night of immaculate elegance.
The awards are conceived, hosted and presented by the Indian Weekender – the Indian community's largest and fastest-growing English language multimedia house in New Zealand – and has become the biggest gala event in the Indian diaspora’s calendar in the past few years.
The awards have the single-minded goal of celebrating the role models within the Kiwi-Indian community in a manner that also highlights the aspirations and vibrancy of this fastest-growing immigrant group in New Zealand.
The awards, which has initially started as the Kiwi Indian Hall of Fame, has over the years incorporated the Young Achievers and Community Excellence Award, to reflect the community’s growing expectations and ambitions in Aotearoa.
The raison d'etre of these awards are not mere recognition of a selected few by the community; rather they are also recognition of the entire Indian community in New Zealand when the crème de la crème of the country gets a first-hand experience of energy and vibrancy that our community brings to Kiwi life.
An exclusive red-carpet reception is rolled out to every guest at the event with flashing cameras, so as to make them feel like a celebrity. The glamour and entertainment quotient of this annual event has always been the talk of the town, months after the awards night.
The event also has an envious tradition of having the country’s Prime Minister as the chief guest of the event, along with the presence of many key politicians including the Leader of Opposition, Mayor of Auckland, Ministers of the Crown and Members of Parliament.

The award night is set to bring the biggest influencers in the community under one roof. And the roof will be that of Cordis, Auckland on Friday, August 9, 2019.
