Kiwi-Indian Hall of Fame 2018 Young Achiever award winner nominated for Indian bank’s youth award

Muskaan Devta, the 13-year-old girl from West Auckland who won Kiwi Indian Hall of fame Young Achiever Award in 2018 has been nominated for the State Bank of India’s Yono 20 under 20 achievers.

YONO is the newly-launched digital platform of State Bank of India (the largest public sector of India) who is looking for 20 high achievers under the age of 20 years.

Muskan has been nominated under the Global Indian- Female category and would be competing for the title with two other nominees from the United States and Australia.

Besides being the Young Achiever of the year 2018 Muskan has published two books, hosted radio shows, appeared on TEDx Auckland and has been a motivational speaker in several events and programs.

“It is New Zealand's moment of pride that Muskaan has been shortlisted as one of three achievers in the Global Indian - Female category.  This category looks at young female achievers residing outside India,” Jaimini Devta, mother of Muskaan Devta told The Indian Weekender.

Muskaan is listed alongside Shreya Ramchandran, an Indian-American teenager who founded the Grey Water Project, an initiative that works to educate people about the usefulness of the used-water from the household sinks, showers and laundry, as a way to combat drought.

The third person nominated in this category is Angelina Arora from Australia, the inventor of a naturally composed bioplastic developed from prawn shells and the sticky protein from silkworms, as a way of addressing the harmful effects of plastic on the environment.

The jury panel of this award includes Anand Chandrasekaran, ex-director of Facebook Messenger, Indian Classical Vocalist Aruna Sairam, Sports Journalist and Author Dr. Boria Majumdar, Actress Dia Mirza, MD & CEO, NPCI Dilip Aspe, Social Media Influencer Mallika Dua, Actress Soha Ali Khan and MD, Microsoft India Sashikumar Sreedharan.

The voting period started from January 14 and ends on Sunday, January 27.
