A group of former Fiji school teachers has reunited in Auckland for a good cause.
The Fiji Teachers Reunion, comprising practising teachers and former educationalists, have pooled their times and resources to organize events to help children in the island nation.
One such event – the “Fiji Ke Bachchon Ke Naam Sangeet Bhari Shaam” - will be held on Saturday, March 8, in Papatoetoe, Auckland. The programme starts at 7pm and is expected to end at around 10.30pm.
A group spokesman, Vishnu Swami, said the programme would feature artistes from Fiji and India in a night of musical extravaganza.
“This programme will range from famous current numbers to classical dances and mimickery,” Swami told the Indian Weekender.
“While entertaining people, this programme is expected to raise money needed to continue our assistance programme to the children of Fiji.”
Swami said the group had organized several functions in the past and had collectively given the money to various causes in Fiji.
He urged all to support the May 8 programme at Papatoetoe Town Hall, 35 St George St.
Food included in the entry fee of $15. Kava, juice and snacks will be on sale.
