Police are currently at the scene of a reported drowning at Maori Bay near Muriwai Beach, where a middle-aged man has died.
Emergency services were called to the beach at 1.30pm.
First aid was carried out on the victim but sadly he could not be revived.
Police are still at the scene and there is no further information at this time.
