This May, Auckland will get to see a bunch of talented Gujaratis from Auckland who will rock the stage with their unique talents.
Gujarati Sahitya Mandal NZ (GSM) and The Indian Weekender are presenting the first-ever Gujarati talent hunt show in New Zealand, called ‘Rangberangi Gujarati’ and the aim is to provide a platform to those who want to show their talent to the world, irrespective of their age.
The first round of live auditions was held on March 24. Several singers, dancers, actors, comedians and other artists turned up for the audition and showed their best talents.
The lucky 15 have been selected who will now perform on Saturday, May 5 at Ormiston Senior College Auditorium in Flat Bush in a grand show.
The unique thing about this talent show is that whatever your talent is, the primary language has to be Gujarati. The one who will dare to come out of their comfort zone and explore their capabilities, will be in for a grand prize as the winner of ‘Rangberangi Gujarati’.
The winner will get $1000 cash as the prize money along with the winner’s trophy.
Rangberangi Gujarati – ‘Jigar che to aavo’
GSM is hosting this show in the memory of their dear friend Late Jigar Shah who died of cancer at a young age of 42 in 2017, hence the event’s tag line - ‘Jigar Che to Aavo’.
The participants will be judged by independent judges from the different art fields- Sandhya Rao (music), Viraf Todywalla (dance), Senior Lecturer in Film, Television & Media at University of Auckland Shuchi Kothari (acting).
