Written by IWK Bureau | Aug 7, 2014 5:20:26 PM

University of Auckland Indian Society established in Feb 2013 came up with a musical show East Meets West… Love in Bollywood Style. UoAIS since the past one and half year have organized many events in the University. Last year their main highlight was the Diwali event where they performed in the University in front of a huge crowd. Seeing the positive response from everyone UoAIS members thought of taking their performance on a whole new level.
Their show had a storyline about a young NRI guy Sameer coming to India to learn more about Bollywood movies. The way he adjusts to his college life and gets in touch with his hidden desi side while falling for a typical Bollywood loving Indian girl will be depicted in the show by doing drama and dance.
This show was organized and performed by students itself. Through this show members of UoAISwant to celebrate the rich and colorful culture of India; to encourage creativity and foster relations between fellow Indian students that will promote the Indian Society and the Indian community at large. We would also take this opportunity to thank our sponsors- HumFM, Indian Weekender, Vision Asia and Eco Travels. Photo credits to Katharsis entertainment.
Some feedback:
KalyaniGhorpade – “East meets West has been the most sensational, wonderful and entertaining university production I have ever seen. It’s a great team effort where we as an audience were gripped throughout the show! Your show covered all the genres in the most amusing way where the characters were unique and fresh I am sure the audiences will agree with me that they had a great time during the Dostana scene where our cheeks hurt with all the laughing and we felt sympathetic towards Vicki during his emotional solo performance.
On the whole, it was an emotional roller coaster and you guys did a great job connecting with the audience! 10/10 for well-choreographed dances and most entertaining skits. Thank you very much for putting on a great show and I hope to see many more in the future!!
PS, I am thinking of joining your team next year”.
