“Curry Munchers is such a universal story of the challenges facing migrant families moving to a new country. It is my story -- as well and having lived the journey it was something I had always had a passion to bring to the big screen,” said writer and star Aunanda Naaido.

Milt Barlow, CEO of Incubate, the film’s New Zealand distributor said, “To be honest, when I first heard of this project I was a little nervous – a Kiwi Indian ‘non Bollywood’ picture with a un-PC name of Curry Munchers. That impression changed when a week later I saw the completed ‘rough cut’. I was charmed by what I thought was a picture with big heart. Its story is universal and the comedy is really good old fashioned fun. I think the film will resonate very well with both Indian and European audiences.”

Everyone over 18+ is invited to come and meet the stars and crew of the film, mingle with the people from the film industry in NZ and most importantly enjoy ‘live musical Entertainment’ by the stars and musicians followed by Aja Nachle's Top DJ's playing funky Bollywood/English Hits where you can dance the night away till the early hours of Sunday morning.

Public can come from 10pm onwards upon paying a $10.00 entry fee at the door to Aja Nachle Nite Club as they will be rocking the nite with Dance Hits. The drinks at the bar are subsidised.

Curry Munchers Film Synopsis
Curry Munchers is an Indian migrant story, a story shared by many other migrant families, who came to New Zealand searching for a better life.

Sid (Aunanda Naaido) is a mid-twenties boy who migrates to Auckland from Delhi with his family. He realizes that he is no longer as popular as he was in Delhi, and believes all he needs is a motor bike, like the one he had back home, to again ‘catch the attention of girls’ and become the popular boy he was back in India.

His parents want him to focus on his engineering studies, but Sid takes a part-time job at a struggling restaurant as a kitchen hand, without his parent’s knowledge, in order to buy the motorbike. His focus moves away from study towards the restaurant, new-found friends including local girl Mary (Alison Titulaer), wannabe Bollywood actor Sheik (Rajeev Varma) and the amiable Pandeep (Tarun Mohanbhai).

Sid's plans take a surprise turn when he and the kitchen crew have to come to the rescue of the failing restaurant, by entering a cook off competition.

What follows is a roller coaster slapstick adventure, where political correctness gets the boot and cultural stereotypes and Indian cuisine is served up hot and spicy - all fused together by a deliciously new soundtrack of New Zealand and Indian music!
