The medical tourism industry in India seems to have  benefitted from the global recession as it has recorded a 20% growth in its annual turnover.

Many people especially from America and Europe are looking towards India for medical procedures which is easily affordable compared to their own countries.

Procedures such as joint replacement, spinal surgeries, cardiac surgeries, cosmetology and dentistry are among the more popular procedures among the foreigners.

Dr.Anupam Verma, VP of the Medical Tourism Council of India says, “ Very often they come to India as tourists.  They find out the cost of their treatment and get it done immediately.”

Dr.Bali, CEO of Wockhardt hospitals perhaps sums it up best when he says “ We are the only country which offers a combination of quality and affordability in the medical procedures” this along with the brand value of Indian doctors makes the package attractive.
