Mumbai, June 28 (IBNS): Gangster Abu Salem, an accused in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case, was attacked inside the Taloja Central Jail in Navi Mumbai on Thursday.
Another inmate, Devendra Jagtap, who was arrested in connection with the murder case of an advocate named Shahid Azmi, shot Salem injuring him on the arm at around 8:30 pm.
Ironically, Salem had bee moved to the Taloja Central Jail over security concerns after being attacked inside Mumbai's Arthur Road jail in 2010.
Salem was arrested in Lisbon in 2002 along with his girlfriend, actor Monica Bedi, and extradited from Portugal in 2005 for his alleged role in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts which left 257 people dead and 713 injured.
