Bangalore: Music lovers couldn’t have expected a better start to the year with a landmark concert for an incredibly noble cause.
Celebrated singer-songwriter, guitarist, bassist, producer, and photographer and India’s favourite Canadian rocker, Bryan Adams with his band, Keith Douglas Scott on guitars and Michael Timothy Curry on drums, enthralled the nostalgic audiences with his heart-warming voice at Palace Grounds here and it was a houseful show.
The ecstatic audiences were seen re-living the magical 80’s- era as they grooved to legendary rock-n-roll numbers including "Summer Of 69”, “Run To You”, "18 Till I Die" and "Everything I Do", as well as songs from the latest album Bare Bones which is an inspired collection of minimally arranged hits culled from Bryan Adams’ impressive body of work spanning over three decades.
The tour and resulting album, Bare Bones, is inspired by Adam’s experience recording “MTV’s Unplugged” in the 90’s.
It was a spectacular sight to watch prominent personalities from all walks of life letting their hair down at the 90-minute high octane performance at the VVIP Lounge while Sunil & Mana Shetty played impeccable hosts.
The highlights of the evening included power packed curtain raiser events such as Shiamak Davar’s dance act and DJ Akbar Sami gig. It was motivating to see PETA stalls displayed at the venue promoting Bryan Adam’s pledge to vegetarianism.
The fascinating concert was followed by a celebration party organized by Netsurf Entertainment and Pernod Ricard in honour of the celebrated artist where cheques were donated to Bryan Adams Foundation and Save The Children India respectively by Sujit Jain, MD, Netsurf Entertainment.
As a special initiative, Bryan Adams awarded a grant to the NGO he supports in India, IIMPACT through setting-up learning centres around Jaipur, Haryana and Rajasthan besides ensuring VVIP tickets to the underprivileged children of IIMPACT as his foundation believes in education and upliftment of society.
Speaking on the occasion, Rahul Sharma, Executive Director, Micromax India said, “The Bryan Adams concert is a great way to celebrate and applaud music as a way to connect with masses and touch the chord with audience across the globe.”
The magnitude of the concert proved it to be one of the biggest and most interactive productions of the year with never-experienced-before technology used for a live concert such as forklifts and stealth LED screen, imported specially from UK and utilized for the very time in India.
This was definitely bigger and better than any of his previous concerts in India.
India loves the modestly professional Bryan Adams. From nightclubs to coffee shows and first dates, teenyboppers to middle-aged lovebirds won’t shy from breaking into their own ‘karaoke’ rendition of Summer of ’69 or even Everything I Do.
Speaking of the new album, Bryan Adams confirmed, “My latest album is full of audience reactions - claps, cheers, anthemic singing along and woots. That is the joy of being an artiste on stage, the communication and great vibrations that you get from the people. There is nothing better. I describe it as a love letter to my fans.
“I went on Twitter and asked fans to make a selection of songs. I got an overwhelming response, so I went ahead and recorded the album. Bare Bones is a treasure trove of my classics like Straight From The Heart, Heaven, Cuts Like A Knife and of course Summer of ’69. India is a great audience. Everybody who comes to the show knows every word of every song and it feels great to be back here after five years.”
With a career spanning over 25 years, Bryan Adams is one of the most successful music performers in the world. His songs have topped music charts in more than 30 countries and his record sales have exceeded 80 million worldwide.
