Asha Bhosle turns 77

Mumbai: The queen of melody Asha Bhosle will celebrate her birthday in Singapore this time as she turns 77 on Wednesday.

She will be performing in a concert named ‘Rahul and I’ in Singapore on Sept 10.

Asha also shared with her fans the opening song that she is going to sing in the event over Twitter: "Pancham fans: The opening track of 'Rahul & I' Concert will be the title from Teesri Manzil, followed by Sanam Tum Jahan (film: Kaalia)."

A regular user of Twitter, Asha thanked all her fans for wishing her, before leaving for Singapore: “Friends, brothers & sisters: once again thank you for your well wishes & b'day greetings. Talk to you soon from Singapore. Shubh Ratri.”

Big B wished her birthday greetings as he posted: "Asha ji .. janm divas ki dher sari shubhkamanayein .. aap swasth rahen aur sukhi sampann rahen yahi ishwar se prarthana hai .. [Many greetings of the birthday. I pray that you stay healthy]"

Her fans spread all over the world also wished her as she completes another melodious year in her life.

One of her fans who calls himself Faridoon_S remarked, " Today is Asha Bhosle ji's birthday. A legendary singer whose voice is still as fresh as it was 50 yrs bak. Happy Birthday Asha ji!."

Another fan named Pramod Srivastava posted:" Today melody queen birthday, Asha Bhosle wish you happy birthday, love u and keep going..."

But Asha Bhosle's birthday is a bit more special for Chandni Pai, as she celebrates her son's bithday on this very day.

"My son's bday.. so also asha bhosle's....Happy Birthday both," posted Pai.

Asha has sung more than 12,000 in 18 different languages which includes English, Russian, Czech, Nepali, Malay apart from Hindi, in the long six decades she has been in the industry.

Asha Bhosle has also worked with several International composers like Boy George, Robbie Williams and cricketer Brett Lee.

Moreover, if media reports are to be believed then this evergreen star is all set to perform with the iconic and popular South American guitarist Carlos Santana.

With this surely Asha Bhosle adds another new chapter to her long and eventful career.

A versatile singer, she had never kept herself confined within Bollywood music.

Apart from traditional Indian Classical music and  folk songs, she had also sung  Rabindra Sangeets and Nazrul Geetis (Songs of Tagore and Kazi Nazrul).
