Former All Black star Aaron Smith has separated from his wife, Teagan Voykovich, after more than ten years together and four years of marriage.

The couple’s split was confirmed by Halo Sports management talent manager Joe Wheeler, who told the NZ Herald that they “acknowledge the public interest in their relationship,” Stuff reported.

Wheeler said the pair are “navigating this transition privately and respectfully,” adding that their main focus is the well-being of their two young sons. “Aaron and Teagan will not be making any further comments regarding their relationship,” he said, as quoted by Stuff.

Smith, one of New Zealand’s most celebrated halfbacks, has been playing for the Japanese club Toyota Verblitz since wrapping up his All Blacks career in 2023. The family own a rural property outside Hamilton, which Voykovich was reportedly renovating while Smith was overseas, reported Stuff.

The couple’s relationship has previously faced public scrutiny. In 2016, Smith was involved in a widely reported incident at Christchurch Airport, where he was caught having sex with another woman in a toilet. The scandal led to him being suspended for a test match in South Africa and sent home, Stuff reported.

At the time, Voykovich’s father said his daughter was coping “as well as could be expected,” calling the ordeal “a real shock,” quoted Stuff.

In a 2019 podcast, Smith reflected on the fallout, admitting it took years to rebuild both his personal and professional life. “It was hard, very tough, but I had to take a really good look in the mirror at who I was portraying and who I was being,” he said. “It wasn’t an instant thing; it took a couple of years to really sort out my issues, and I’m still working on myself,” Stuff reported.

The pair are now focused on co-parenting their children as they move forward separately.
