The makers of director Buchi Babu Sana’s much-anticipated rural action drama Peddi, starring Telugu actor Ram Charan in the lead, have officially announced that the film will hit theatres on June 4 this year, as reported by IANS.
The announcement comes shortly after the film’s shooting was successfully wrapped up, marking a major milestone in its production journey.
Ram Charan himself took to social media to share the release update with fans. Posting about the film, he wrote, "Meet #PEDDI on June 4th. See you in cinemas." This confirmation has further heightened excitement among audiences who have been eagerly awaiting the film.
A day before the official announcement, celebrated cinematographer R Rathnavelu revealed that filming had concluded. Taking to X in the early hours of May 1, he wrote, "It's a wrap for Mega power star @AlwaysRamCharan! #Peddi, A Memorable journey. Working with #RC has been truly special.
A powerhouse performer on screen and a wonderful friend off it. Grateful for the memories we've created together. @BuchiBabuSana @arrahman @vriddhicinemas."
Rathnavelu also shared a heartfelt note on Instagram, praising the actor and reflecting on their collaboration. He wrote, "Working with Ram Charan has been nothing short of inspiring, not just a phenomenal actor who brings fire and finesse to every frame, but also a genuinely warm and truly reliable friend off-screen.
On this last day of shoot with him, I carry back not just great visuals, but great memories. Here's to the magic we created together, and to many more journeys ahead."
IANS had reported on April 29 that the unit was in the process of shooting the last song for the film. According to IANS, the number is expected to be a grand and energetic special track featuring Ram Charan. Shot in Hyderabad, the song is said to include a surprise element that will excite audiences.
A source close to the production shared, "The tune, the dance, the grandeur set and a surprise in it will make the audience go berserk. The song, that has been set to tune by A R Rahman, will be another sure-shot chartbuster."
The production house, Vriddhi Cinemas, had earlier stated that the shoot would be completed within a short span of six days. In a prior social media update, the team expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response to the film’s songs and glimpses.
According to IANS, the statement read, "Firstly, thank you all for the wonderful response to our songs and glimpses. We're truly happy to see the love and excitement for Peddi. The talkie part of the film is complete, and we only have one song left to be shot. We've seen the edit of the film, and we're extremely happy with the output."
Explaining the decision to postpone the release, the makers added, "With such great content in our hands, we want to present it in the best possible way. For that, we feel it's important to give our technicians and post-production team a little more time to bring out their best with absolute perfection. It is our duty to give you nothing but the best theatrical experience. So, we've decided to push the release of the film to June," as quoted by IANS.
The team also thanked fans for their continued patience and support, promising that the wait would be worthwhile.
Peddi has been generating significant buzz ever since its announcement, thanks to its compelling premise and strong cast. The film features Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead, alongside seasoned actors Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, and Boman Irani in key roles.
On the technical front, the film boasts a highly accomplished crew. Cinematography is handled by Rathnavelu, editing is overseen by Navin Nooli, and the film’s grand and intricate sets have been designed by Avinash Kolla. With music composed by A R Rahman, expectations are already high for a powerful audio-visual experience, IANS has reported.
With filming now complete and the release date locked, Peddi is gearing up to be one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
