A man has died following a water-related incident at Hahei Beach in the Coromandel on Monday afternoon.
According to a report by Stuff, a police spokesperson said emergency services were called to the popular beach near Tutaritari Rd at about 3:15 pm after a man in the water was reported to need assistance. He was brought ashore in a critical condition.
“A man in the water needed assistance,” as quoted by Stuff.
Despite emergency efforts, the man died at the scene. A Hato Hone St John spokesperson confirmed that one helicopter, one ambulance, one first response unit and an operational manager were dispatched to the incident, Stuff has reported.
Police said inquiries into the incident were ongoing.
