Grammy-winning American rock band Kings of Leon will perform in Auckland next February before heading to Christchurch for the sold-out Electric Avenue festival.

According to a report by 1News, the Sex on Fire hitmakers will take the stage at Live at the Domain on Wednesday, February 24, with Australian rock band Ocean Alley on support.

The Auckland show comes two days before Kings of Leon headline the Electric Avenue festival at Hagley Park on February 26 and 27. The festival has already sold out.

Live at the Domain has previously hosted major international acts, with pop-punk bands Good Charlotte and Yellowcard performing earlier this year alongside support acts Highly Suspect and Tadpole, 1News has reported.

The Auckland concert is being supported by the Government's one-off Events Attraction Package, a $40 million fund designed to attract major international events and performers to New Zealand.
