It wasn’t a political rally or a traffic accident that brought Vadodara streets to a standstill this week, it was a dispute over golgappas.
According to a report by The Indian Express, near Sursagar Lake, a woman staged a spontaneous protest after claiming she was short-changed at a roadside pani puri stall. She insisted she had paid Rs 20 for six puris but received only four. Determined to get her “missing two puris,” she sat cross-legged in the middle of the road, halting traffic as bewildered motorists tried to navigate around her.
Bystanders quickly pulled out their phones, capturing the unusual scene that soon went viral online. Police arrived to restore order, but the protest had already morphed into a mix of street theatre and an impromptu consumer-rights demonstration.
Tearfully, the woman implored officers to ensure “six puris for Rs 20, no less.” Eventually, she was escorted away, and traffic resumed. Whether she received the extra golgappas remains unclear.
The quirky incident sparked reactions across social media. Some dubbed it a “2 pani puri ke liye satyagrah,” while others joked, “The Supreme Court should handle this; they give justice in strange cases these days.” Others simply celebrated the dedication of a true pani puri enthusiast, as reported by The Indian Express.
