A tragic incident has shaken a family in Haryana after 30-year-old Vijay Kumar Sheoran, a resident of Charkhi Dadri, was stabbed to death in the UK on November 25. Reported by DEEPENDER DESWAL from TRIBUNE NEWS.

Vijay had resigned from his position at the Central Board of Excise and Customs earlier this year, hoping to pursue higher studies and build a better future abroad. He was studying at the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol.

The incident took place in Worcester, about 215 km from London. While British authorities have not yet disclosed details about the case, Vijay’s family suspects that someone from Haryana or Punjab may be involved in the murder.

Seeking urgent assistance, the family has approached the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), requesting help from the Indian High Commission in London to bring his mortal remains home as soon as possible.

“Our family is devastated by this incident. We request the MEA to help us in getting my brother’s body back for the last rites. Due to the complex legal formalities and documentation in the UK, it is difficult for us to manage on our own,” he wrote.

Vijay’s brother, Ravi Kumar, who lives in Jagrambass village in Charkhi Dadri’s Badhra subdivision, has formally written to the MEA. He shared that Vijay was last posted in Kochi before he left his government job to pursue bigger opportunities in the UK.

Ravi has also appealed to Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for support in the matter.

According to information released by the West Mercia Police, the incident occurred around 4.15 am (UK time) on November 25.

The police stated, “He was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Five men were arrested on suspicion of murder and are now on bail as the investigation continues,”

They added that a sixth man, who was also arrested earlier, has since been released with no further action.

The investigation is ongoing as Vijay’s family awaits clarity and appeals for swift assistance to bring him back home.
