Haryana Federation NZ hosted a fundraising dinner in Auckland in support of National Party candidates Sunil Kumar and Lalit Arya, who are contesting the 2026 New Zealand general election.
Both Kumar and Arya have connections to Haryana, India, and the event brought together members of the Haryana community, supporters, sponsors and volunteers.
Kumar is standing for National in Glendene, while Arya is contesting Ōtāhuhu. Both are listed among National’s candidates for the 2026 election.
The event was attended by Hon Simeon Brown MP, Minister of Health, Energy and State Owned Enterprises, and Carlos Cheung MP for Mount Roskill.
Haryana Federation NZ formally acknowledged the two MPs for attending the gathering and supporting the community.
The dinner also provided an opportunity for members of the Haryana community in New Zealand to connect and support the two candidates' election campaigns.
The organising team included Karanjeet Cheema, Gurbaj Mall, Abhishek Dahiya, Ravi Ghangas and Jatinder Virk.
The organisers thanked volunteers, sponsors, supporters and community members who contributed to the event.
Haryana Federation NZ also extended its best wishes to Kumar and Arya as they continue their election campaigns.
The gathering highlighted the community's shared connection to Haryana and its engagement with the upcoming New Zealand election.
