The ceremony was marked by heartfelt emotions as Mr. Basiala received the honor in the presence of his parents, S. Malkit Singh and Sardarni Satnam Kaur, along with other family members. As his name echoed through the grand halls of Government House, the pride and joy on his parents’ faces captured the significance of the moment.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Basiala humbly dedicated the award to his family and the wider media community.
“This honor does not belong to me alone; it belongs to the prayers of my family and every well-wisher associated with Punjabi media. Receiving this medal today in the presence of my parents is the most memorable moment of my life,” he said.
He further emphasized that the award stands as a tribute to all media professionals in New Zealand working tirelessly to promote the Punjabi mother tongue alongside their journalistic responsibilities.
