Baby’s Body Found In A Bin In Auckland

A homicide investigation is underway after the body of a newborn baby was discovered in a wheelie bin in Auckland late last night, RNZ reported.

The baby was found outside a property on Renall Street in Ponsonby at approximately 10pm. A woman is currently in custody and being interviewed by police as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police have confirmed they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the case.

A post-mortem examination is ongoing to establish the cause of death and guide the next steps in the investigation. Police have stated that updates will be provided as the inquiry progresses.

As part of the investigation, officers will conduct an area canvass, collect CCTV footage from local residents, and search other wheelie bins in the vicinity for additional evidence. An increased police presence will remain in the area.

Authorities have reassured the public that there is no risk to public safety.
