Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani-starrer Awarapan 2 is continuing its strong theatrical run, recording a significant jump in collections on its ninth day and crossing the Rs 180 crore mark worldwide.

Despite completing more than a week in cinemas and facing competition from new releases, the Nitin Kakkar directorial has managed to maintain momentum at the box office.

According to The Times of India, Awarapan 2 collected an estimated Rs 8.25 crore net in India on Day 9, marking a 43.5 per cent increase compared with its previous day's collection of Rs 5.75 crore. The film's total India net collection has reached Rs 127.50 crore, while its India gross collection stands at Rs 152.11 crore.

The film has also continued to perform steadily in international markets. According to The Times of India, its overseas gross collection has reached Rs 28.80 crore, taking the movie's worldwide gross collection to Rs 180.91 crore.

The latest figures indicate that Awarapan 2 has maintained considerable audience interest even after completing its first week in theatres. Its performance during the second weekend is expected to determine how strongly the film continues its box office journey.

Awarapan 2 Records Strong Growth on Day 9

Awarapan 2 recorded a noticeable rise in collections on its second Friday. According to The Times of India, the film's Day 9 earnings increased by more than 40 per cent compared with the previous day, indicating stronger audience turnout as the second weekend approached.

The movie's Day 8 performance had remained relatively stable despite a modest decline in daily earnings. It had collected an estimated Rs 5.50 crore net in India on Day 8, compared with Rs 6.00 crore on Day 7.

According to The Times of India, the film's Day 8 collection came from 9,858 shows across the country. The 8.3 per cent decline from the previous day was relatively limited, allowing the movie to maintain its overall momentum.

With the addition of the Day 8 figures, the film's India net collection had reached Rs 119 crore, while its India gross collection stood at Rs 141.87 crore.

The movie had collected Rs 6.75 crore on Day 6 and Rs 6.00 crore on Day 7, taking its first-week India net collection to Rs 113.50 crore.

Awarapan 2 Records 13% Overall Occupancy

According to The Times of India, Awarapan 2 recorded an overall occupancy of around 13 per cent across its Hindi 2D shows on its second Friday.

The morning shows recorded 6.92 per cent occupancy, while afternoon shows registered 12.38 per cent. Evening shows performed slightly better, recording 14.92 per cent occupancy.

The strongest turnout came during the night shows, which registered an occupancy of 23.85 per cent. The better performance during the later shows helped the film maintain its Day 8 earnings above the Rs 5 crore mark.

The occupancy figures indicate that while the film's overall theatrical audience was moderate during the day, evening and night screenings continued to attract viewers.

Worldwide Collection Reaches Rs 169.17 Crore on Day 8

The film also continued to add to its international earnings during its second Friday. According to The Times of India, Awarapan 2 earned an estimated Rs 1 crore from overseas markets on Day 8.

Its total overseas gross collection subsequently reached Rs 27.30 crore. When combined with the India gross collection of Rs 141.87 crore, the film's worldwide gross stood at Rs 169.17 crore at that stage of its run.

With the additional earnings recorded on Day 9, the movie has now moved past the Rs 180 crore worldwide milestone.

The overseas performance has therefore become an important contributor to the film's overall box office numbers, alongside its strong domestic collection.

Emraan Hashmi Returns as Shivam

Awarapan 2 brings back Emraan Hashmi as Shivam, the central character from the 2007 film Awarapan. The sequel continues his story years after the events that transformed his life.

Shivam is still dealing with the emotional impact of losing Aaliyah, played by Shriya Saran. His life takes another turn when he encounters an abandoned girl.

He names the child Aaliyah and attempts to ensure that she is placed in a safe home. However, the situation takes a darker turn when the girl is adopted by a family that is connected to a child-trafficking network.

Shivam eventually discovers the truth and decides to protect the girl, drawing him into a dangerous confrontation with the criminal operation.

According to The Times of India, the emotional connection between Shivam and the child becomes an important part of the sequel's storyline, giving the character another opportunity to confront his past and seek redemption.

Atul Kumar Joins Shivam's Mission

The investigation into the trafficking network eventually brings Shivam into a larger operation. Interpol officer Samarth Singh, played by Atul Kumar, becomes involved in the mission and helps bring the investigation into a broader international context.

According to The Times of India, the pursuit eventually takes Shivam to Bangkok, where he begins tracking the main figure behind the criminal network.

The mission is not only about rescuing the child. It also forces Shivam to confront the grief and emotional pain that have remained with him for years.

His relationship with the girl becomes central to his journey, with protecting her giving him another opportunity to find purpose and redemption.

Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 was released in theatres on August 14. According to The Times of India, the film's second weekend will be particularly important in determining whether it can maintain its strong box office momentum and continue its run towards higher worldwide milestones.
