Why More South Akl Sellers Are Choosing Tejinder Singh

When it comes to reshaping the real estate landscape in South Auckland, one name stands out: Tejinder Singh. Recognised by OneRoof as part of the Super-listers, the top 11 real estate agents in New Zealand for 2025, his rise has been nothing short of remarkable.

Singh has jumped from No. 32 last year to No. 11 this year, becoming the only Indian among New Zealand’s top 11 listers. He is also one of the top listers overall, recording an impressive 49% increase in listings.

This is why, Singh says, his team is the number one sales team in South Auckland and ranks ninth company-wide for Barfoot & Thompson in Auckland.

Today, as the leading salesperson along with his Barfoot & Thompson team in South Auckland, and the head of a growing team of six, Singh brings a rare blend of heart, hustle, and technical expertise to every home he represents.

Singh shares that from 1 October 2025 to 31 October 2025, he and his team achieved 165 sales worth $153 million.

Yet his journey wasn’t a conventional one.

“Following completion of a Graduate Diploma of IT and a Bachelor of Information Technology, I worked as an infrastructure and security specialist for 14 years,” Singh says.

“It was a perfect segue to real estate today where IT and social media are so important for the marketing of property,” he adds.

Singh says he views real estate the same way: meeting vendors and buyers looking to buy or sell, and helping them find a solution.

For Singh, the turning point was deeply personal. Motivated by his daughter’s health challenges, he wanted a career that would give him flexibility, and real estate offered exactly that. He left his long-term IT role in 2020, stepped into property with no prior sales experience, and quickly made his mark.

He began with another sales team, but three years later launched his own. Since then, despite a flat market, he has had what he describes as his “best years” in real estate.

The reason? A genuine passion for connecting people with the homes that will shape their future.

“Handing over the keys to a new homeowner when I have finalised a sale and seeing the smile on their face is one of the reasons I love working in the real estate business,” Tejinder says.

Every day, he looks forward to devising tailored strategies that help buyers and sellers reach their property goals. Much of his team’s work focuses on new terrace homes, an increasingly common option.

“We sell a lot of older homes and development land. Since we also sell land to developers, we handle a lot of new builds as well.”

These developments often require more effort and time to sell, and Singh notes that many agents shy away from them. But he embraces the challenge.

“Since moving to Auckland I’ve always lived in Papatoetoe, so I know all its twists and turns,” he explains.

While standalone homes tend to attract instant attention, Singh acknowledges that many Kiwis are still cautious about terrace living, especially with shared driveways and closer neighbours. But he is quick to highlight their benefits. Price is a major one: “They’re not that costly anymore. The developers are very flexible when it comes to pricing, etcetera,” he says.

He also points out that modern terrace homes offer features many older standalone homes simply can’t: more bedrooms and bathrooms, double glazing, insulation, and the peace of mind of new construction, without the risk of mould or condensation creeping in.

The biggest shift Singh has seen in recent months is sellers finally adjusting to a buyers’ market and pricing realistically. It’s a change he believes will pave the way for smoother, more successful transactions for everyone involved.

Fluent in English, Punjabi, and Hindi, Singh prides himself on being approachable, available, and truly invested in the community he serves. If you’re looking for a salesperson who brings integrity, strategy, and warmth into every interaction, you’ll find him at Barfoot & Thompson Otahuhu.

Singh says he would love to help you find answers to your real estate questions, and he looks forward to meeting you.
