Apple’s all-new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are now available in India and New Zealand, bringing upgrades focused on cameras, performance, battery life and AI rather than a complete redesign.

The biggest change is the camera system. The new 48MP Pro Fusion camera setup adds variable aperture, giving users more control over how much light enters the lens.

Apple offers four aperture settings, making the camera more flexible for portraits, low-light photography and everyday shots. The new 18MP Center Stage front camera also improves selfies and video calls.

Under the hood, the A20 Pro chip delivers faster performance while improved thermal management helps the phone handle demanding gaming, video editing and multitasking. For users upgrading from older iPhones, the performance improvement is likely to be one of the most noticeable changes.

Battery life is another major highlight. Apple claims the iPhone 18 Pro Max can deliver up to 43 hours of video playback, making it particularly appealing to people who spend long hours streaming, gaming or creating content.

The phones also arrive with iOS 27, bringing new Apple Intelligence features and an upgraded Siri experience. These features are designed to make everyday tasks more natural and useful, although how much users benefit will depend on how they use their phone.

In terms of design, Apple has kept the familiar Pro look while introducing new colours including Black, Silver, Glacier and Burgundy. The phones feature an aluminium unibody and Ceramic Shield protection.

India vs New Zealand

In India, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at around ₹1,64,900 for 256GB, while New Zealand pricing starts from around NZ$2,549, depending on the model and storage configuration.

Audience Review

For existing iPhone users, the iPhone 18 Pro feels more like a refined upgrade than a complete revolution.

The camera improvements, A20 Pro performance, longer battery life and new AI features are the main reasons to consider upgrading.

For content creators, photographers and heavy smartphone users, the improved camera controls and performance could make the biggest difference. However, users with a recent Pro model may find fewer reasons to upgrade immediately.
