When Heartbreak Sings: Doriyan from Aabeer Gulaal Captures Love & Loss

What does heartbreak sound like? For many, it now sounds like Doriyan — a hauntingly soulful ballad from the newly released film Aabeer Gulaal, starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor. The film, presented by Southpaw Entertainment and Indian Stories (UK), released worldwide in theatres (except India) on September 12, 2025.

Doriyan is not just music, it is emotion draped in melody. Composed by the ever-brilliant Amit Trivedi and sung by two of the industry’s most evocative voices — Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh — the song captures the unbearable beauty of separation. Each lyric trembles with unspoken longing, each note lingers like a memory that refuses to fade.

On screen, Aabeer reaches out, desperate to hold on to Gulaal. His hope meets her hesitation, their eyes speak what their lips cannot. The distance between them is almost tangible, and the audience is left asking: what force could keep two hearts apart when they still beat as one?

The track doesn’t just play; it aches. It gives sound to the invisible threads that bind lovers — stretched tight by time and space, yet unbroken by either. Doriyan is heartbreak immortalised, the silence between two souls turned into song.

Yet, beyond the pain lies the promise of love. Directed by Aarti S. Bagdi and produced by Vivek B. Agrawal, Aabeer Gulaal is described as a heartwarming romantic comedy about love, laughter, and healing. And while Doriyan reveals the depth of separation, the film itself carries the hope of reconciliation.

As the film releases for its worldwide release, one thing is certain — Aabeer Gulaal asks us all to pause, feel, and, above all, make space for love.
