The High Commissioner of India Muktesh Pardeshi has expressed rejoice on the appointment of Labour MP Priyanca Radhakrishnan as the first-ever Indian-origin Minister in New Zealand government.

Speaking with the Indian Weekender Mr Pardeshi said, “I am delighted to know that Ms Priyanca Radhakrishnan has been appointed a Minister in the NZ Govt. It’s wonderful news for the Indian diaspora as she becomes the first India-born Minister here.”

Mr Pardeshi expressed confidence that this new appointment would be great news for the Indian diaspora in the country and bring fresh impetus in the already growing bilateral relations between India and New Zealand.

“I met her last weekend at the Wellington Festival. I look forward to working closely with her in the areas of community engagement and youth affairs. I wish her a very successful ministerial stint,” Mr Pardeshi said.
