The office of the Indian High Commission in New Zealand has announced a total of three repatriation flights to India under the fifth phase of the Vande Bharat Mission in the month of August.
The office of the High Commission has confirmed through a social media post a shortwhile ago that two special Air India Flights are scheduled on August 8 and 13, while a seperate Private Charter flight is scheduled on August 7.
The private charter flight will be flying from Auckland to Kochi stopping at Singapore for refuelling, whereas the Air India flights will be direct flight from Auckland to Delhi.
Earlier India’s Minister of Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri had announced on Sunday, July 26 on his twitter handle that India will be sending additional flights to bring back stranded Indian nationals in New Zealand as part of the fifth phase of the Vande Bharat Mission.
Notably, over 788,000 Indians stranded abroad due to coronavirus pandemic have returned under Vande Bharat Mission till July 22.
The New Zealand leg of the Vande Bharat Mission started on June 7 and within a month had ferried nine flights to India taking home almost around 1600 people.
The spokesperson of the Indian High Commission has confirmed that like on previous occasions interested travellers will first have to register interest with the High Commission and will subsequently receive an invitation to purchase a ticket from Air India directly.
