Effervescent pop-singing-star NZ internet super-sensation Shirley Setia seemed“very overwhelmed with the experience and was grateful to director Sabbir-sir”, even as she saw herself first-time on the ‘big-screen’  at the PVR theatre of the widely-appreciated trailer launch theatre preview of her debut Bollywood (Hindi) movie ‘Nikamma’ (opposite macho handsome actor Abhimanyu Dassani and co-star vivacious Shilpa Shetty).  As is known, Abhimanyu is the macho talented son of  evergreen heroine Bhagyashree ( of iconic musical movie ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ )

A confessed addict of popular Indian spicy-sweet ‘chaat’ snack Shirley shared how she patiently waited all thru ( for two years) during the Covid-19 pandemic. The release of ‘Nikamma’ co-produced with Sony Pictures International and directed by Sabbir, had to be postponed due to the adverse situation.

In casual reaction, the candid Sethia refuted rumours that she had gone on a strict crash-diet regime during ‘Nikamma’.Shares Shirley, “Hmm, I was diet-conscious, because for a song, I had to tone up a little, and I  had given up on my favourite crunchy sweet-spicy Indian chaat snack ‘, Pani-Puri’. Which was and is very difficult for me. Now when the release date ( June 17th) of ‘Nikamma’ was announced, the first thing I did was to celebrate with a plate of   ‘pani-puri’. Now my parents are back home in Auckland. But when way back my film was launched in Mumbai, I remember going out with my Dad to relish a plate of ‘sev-puri’, recalls the slim, petite Sethia.

Speaking exclusively with this senior entertainment journalist, in a personal message to all her ardent fans in New Zealand, the sentimental Shirley gushed, “ Hi everyone, OMG, this is so emotional. Thanks to your affection and motivation, I was able to come 12300 km away from my Auckland home, to Mumbai. Please do watch ‘Nikamma’ and shower your love; it’s not just my film, your film as well,” she gushed.  In an exclusive, ‘Director of ‘Nikamma’ Sabbir Khan asserts, “Not only is Shirley pretty, cute and vibrant, but she is also a modest multi-talented naturally-gifted singer-actress, who is fluent in Hindi. We also plan to use her viral voice for a surprise song track either in the movie or promos.” .he signs off
