Around 150 people attended an information seminar hosted by NZ Police recruitment over the weekend in South Auckland.

"It’s great to see so many people from our Indian communities are interested in joining the police National MP, Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi said.

“I’m really pleased with the strong turnout.  Twenty men and women were eligible to apply to join the police and filled out an application form” Mr Bakshi said.

“They ranged in age from young to middle-aged and all were very keen to contribute to making our communities safer.

“It’s important that frontline services, like the police, connect with all of our communities.  Having more ethnically diverse police officers on the streets will do just that.

“I look forward to hearing about the progress of the weekend’s applicants”.
