Finally, the original ‘Sheela Ki Jawani’ sizzled on the stage of Telstra Clear Centre and what a show it was.
Sunidhi Chauhan, with all her talent, had to deliver a great show. She made the auditorium thrilled with her lovely numbers and left the crowds gasping for more.
The versatile singer has come out of the shadow of big names like KK and Shaan, with whom she has performed earlier. Yes, she is a star on her own right and rightfully so. People remember Sunidhi adding grace to the KK show last year, but this year seeing her perform solo, was a whole new experience.
Sunidhi started with a bang with some fast numbers and then dolled out melodies in the middle of the show. Both were very well handled by her. She was also getting the grasp of keeping the audience involved with her frequent songs for Punjabis and the Gujju crowd.
The live orchestra was very good giving a very great support with the music.
Another mention has to be made of the actor in her troupe, Raviraj Kande, who came in the intermission with his great comic act on various actors and their styles. He also did a slapstick gig on various Indian communities like the Gujju, Punjabis and South Indians. People were rolling with laughter in this entertaining piece.
The show was supported by very good event management by CFI events (Ram Aiyer).
The promoter, Dave, thanked his team without whom this event would not have been possible: Ram Aiyer, Dinesh Raniga, Tarsheel, Hiren and other team members.
The sound, which is of essence in such a show, was very well executed. The technical team did a good job of keeping the show up to the mark. Dharmesh Parikh did the light and sound for the show and Litu managed the video screens.
Kudos to promoter DJ Dave and his team for bringing a great talent to Auckland and doing a lovely show out of it.
A day after the show Dave told us, “the managers were very happy with the way the show went, the hospitality offered to the crew and the success of the show.”
I’m sure the ‘Desi girl’ left Auckland with some good memories of a great show, just as we did.
