Mumbai: Directorial debutant, Rohit Dhawan’s, Desi Boyz has hit the silver screen.
Lead actors Akshay Kumar and John Abraham shared a candid conversation with Komal Nahta on ETC Bollywood Business, where the Khiladi Kumar of Bollywood said there is hardly any difference between male actors and male escorts..
Desi Boyz promos received a pretty cold and negative feedback from the trade initially, reacting to it, Akshay responded, "Hamare film Industry mein trailers ya films jab bhi release hote hai…tab sabse pehle uski dhajjiya udayi jati hai.”
The duo, Akshay and John are playing male escorts in the movie.
When asked about any training for playing the role, Akshay said, “For playing this role we didn’t feel the need to meet any male escorts…Hum waise hi hai…Male Actors and male escorts me kuch zyada farak nahi hota”
Talking about his love interest in the movie, Chitrangada Singh, Akshay said, “Whenever I see her, she reminds me of Smita Patil. She is a lovely actress and has taken the role so well.”
Desi Boyz happens to be the second movie of John and Akshay together after Garam Masala. Commenting on John’s current comic performance, Akshay said, “John is now more comfortable with comedy. Garam Masala ke time pe..jo John ki comic timing thi..aur jo aj hai..usme zameen aasmaan ka farak hai.”
Talking about his experience in Garam Masala, John said, “During Garam Masala I was new and raw. I didn’t understand comic timings, I really got flustered. I wasn’t able to cope up the pressure of handling comedy. Infact, at one point of time, Meri aankhon me actually aansu aa gaye ki mujhse ye comedy nahi hogi. In just one month of Garam Masala shoot, I was ready to talk to Priyan Sir and tell him that I am leaving the movie.”
